Scholastics:

Sara graduated from California State University Northridge magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She went on to graduate from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She received a scholarship through the America Physical Therapy Association of Oregon and was an award recipient for Outstanding Service to the Physical Therapy Profession in her 2020 graduating class.

Credentials:

Sara continues to expand her education through The American Physical Therapy Association; The Herman&Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute; and The Institute of Clinical Excellence. Currently, she is working on her certification from Herman&Wallace for pelvic rehabilitation. Her future goals also include obtaining her Therapeutic Pain Specialist Certification (TPS). She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), APTA Oregon, and the Academy of Pelvic Health and Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section of the APTA.

Experience:

Sara entered Physical Therapy school with a determination to see improvements in care for people who have experienced emotional and physical trauma. She has gained experience in trauma-informed care and working with survivors of sexual abuse through the non-profit organizations Mentor Support Collaborative and the Sexual Assault Resource Center of Oregon. Sara’s clinical experience includes orthopedic, acute care, pediatric, and pelvic health populations. As a life long learner, her goal is to continue to grow in clinical expertise through mentorship and continuing education.

Achievements:

Starting in her first year of graduate school, Sara has pursued professional development and PT advancement by being a member of the Government Affairs Committee for APTA Oregon. She currently leads in the role of PT-PAC Chair for the committee. In 2019 she received a scholarship from APTA Oregon to travel to Washington D.C. with four other PTs and members to meet with lawmakers about issues impacting care for Oregon clients.

Hobbies:

Sara was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, CA, but has spent the last three years in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where she currently lives with her husband and their beloved dog, Lola.  

Her passions include reading science fiction novels, bird watching, playing disc golf, and playing board games or Dungeons and Dragons with her family and friends.
