Scholastics:

Mario completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (Boston, MA) in May 2015. He graduated from University of California Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA) with a degree in Biophysics in 2009. Mario completed a fellowship program in orthopedic manual physical therapy with Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars in August 2023.

Credentials and Continuing Education:

Mario is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT), Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). His FAAOMPT and COMT training is through Maitland Australian Physical Therapy Seminars (MAPS). Mario is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). He is also a Certified Clinical Instructor Level 1 (CCI1) through the American Physical Therapy Association.

Experience:

Mario has primarily practiced in outpatient orthopedics and occupational health since graduating physical therapy school 8+ years ago. In school, his rotations included orthopedics, outpatient neurology, and acute care; however, the majority of his postgraduate training is in orthopedics. Since graduation, he has practiced at several outpatient orthopedic locations in the Portland area which has exposed him to various populations including patients with acquired and traumatic brain injury, occupational health, chronic pain, and patients with dizziness and vestibular disorders. Mario primarily treats orthopedic conditions, headaches, and BPPV/vestibular and balance disorders.

Achievements:

Mario has achieved many professional achievements including attending one of the top 10 nationally ranked physical therapy programs with an academic scholarship. Mario has continued to push himself through professional continuing education programs achieving COMT and FAAOMPT, and has ongoing goals in continuing education including advanced vestibular training. Mario maintains a passion for education and has 7+ years of experience as a clinical instructor having worked with physical therapy students from programs across the nation in addition to having served as a lab instructor for two Maitland courses.

Hobbies:

Mario's hobbies include biking, hiking, kayaking, cooking and eating, learning ceramics, playing board games, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts.
